>From the comments, one may be convinced that the generated code is ok. Now the
question is whether a warning should be triggered or not. A warning would of
course be convenient but I agree with comment #4 from Andreas Schwab that an
expression does not have an alignment by itself. Maybe a simple note in the gcc
manual at the "aligned type attribute" section would probably suffice.
