That's what I expected, but my analysis says that that change was OK and the underlying cause is incorrectly constructed array type tree nodes from Richard's older patch (r171245) (and fixing the array type construction, as in the patches I attached, fixes this bug but makes gcc.dg/debug/dwarf2/pr47939-4.c regress, for reasons I suspect are somewhere inside the DWARF output code).
