Somehow this one slipped through the net, even though it is present in my PDT
directory.

The non-PDT version leaks memory but does not emit the free(): invalid pointer.
The offending line is mini_batch = input_output_pairs(1:1), which makes this PR
look very much like the trainable network failure in fiats!

Therefore, I have added it to the PDT meta-bug.
