OK, building a avr-gcc works with this patch. Thanks! But I can no longer bootstrap the compiler with this patch (comment #11) applied: /tmp/HEAD/gcc/gcc/config/i386/i386.h:2931: error: parse error before 'ix86_compare_op0' (host: i686 linux) -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=18887
