Hi,
https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/pull/9300 has been updated with the actual
changes from the candidate implementation now available in
https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/pull/9378
If there are no further remarks on the RFC in the following days, I will
submit it for adoption.

Hi,
I've drafted https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/pull/9300 (rendered text at
https://github.com/rouault/gdal/blob/rfc99_text/doc/source/development/rfc/rfc99_geometry_coordinate_precision.rst)
Summary:
This RFC aims at introducing optional metadata to specify the
coordinate precision of geometries, to be able to round appropriately
coordinates and limit the number of decimals when exporting to
text-based formats or nullify least-significant bits for binary
formats. That metadata will be stored into and read from formats that
can support it.
Note that this is not backed by an implementation yet (except a
prototype done one year or so for the nullification of
least-significant bits in WKB), so there might be changes/additions to
the exposed plan, but the document exposes the general directions
