I have seen a lot of really good setups lately - on
this and other lists, for desert type lizards... but
one thing I don't see is feeding dishes. For those of
you that don't use them, what kind of feeding
arrangements do you use?

The reason I am asking this is two-fold. (1) I feed my
lizards crickets or worms (meal or super) and I don't
like the idea of leaving them in the tank until the
lizards finish them off (it's not safe for the lizards
and if the lizards don't eat them, they die from lack
of food and water) and the worms burrow so the lizards
can't find them, especially as I use more than an 1"
of sand or limestone in my tanks - I have tried
feeding dishes, but most of my lizards refuse to use
them... (2) it's hard to monitor how much one lizard
is eating if there is more than one lizard in a
tank... i.e., is the dominate lizard keeping the
second lizard from eating enough? This is mainly in
relation to leos and beardies... both desert lizards!
Thanks for the advice, ideas, and opinions in advance!
I want to "re-do" my habitats and am trying to
incorporate something for feeding, but can't figure
out what. The beardies, we can remove and feed them
in a large container... they love this - a
free-for-all! But I don't know if my leos would go for
this! I watched my male last night trying to catch
crickets...it was weird... he would stare at it, then
suddenly lunge ... and miss it by a hair! (the cricket
would just start walking away - his timing was
terrible! I worry that he's getting any at all! (he's
still fat right now so this might be a new thing)

TTFN!
