Hi, Yuri

Yes, I took it on the 18th. Last week she was all green except for her usual dusting of gold spots, blue eye ridges and red markings on her lower back. She has had the normal Phelsuma coloration &  markings ever since she first showed up about 5 months ago. She usually hangs around our kitchen most of the time and has been mating with several of the males that also hang around the kitchen (our kitchen is a popular spot since they can usually entice us to give them fruit or a meal worm by looking at us with those big eyes).
This is her normal coloration (taken 3 weeks ago).
She seems to be healthy and hungry, though. She practically leaps towards us when we come near her and is happy to eat the meal worms and lick the fruit we give her.

Thanks,
Sherron

Hi Sherron,

If that is a recent photo, then it looks like your gecko is doing well -- nice shape, not very thin, some reserves on her tail. The blue is likely an anomaly - where she is not able to produce yellow pigment well. There are some examples of this seen in this species as well as Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis.  The species you are talking about gets its common name from the gold/yellow coloring on its upper back. Your specimen seems to be lacking this gold/yellow feature.

I didn't see this show up on the list, so am reposting it. Sorry if anyone gets it twice. :(

We have a young female Gold Dust Day Gecko who has hung around our kitchen for quite a few months now, but she is suddenly turning blue on her forward half.  The only time I have seen any of them turn blue instead of green is when they have died, so I am really concerned about her.

She still seems hungry, but is much more timid than usual and is much thinner than she was a few weeks ago and is not eating as well.

We don't have any geckos in captivity, but we have them all over our house, mostly the day geckos, but also a lot of the house geckos and the Mourning geckos, so we almost always have papaya and water out for them.  We also feed them meal worms occasionally, and she ate 3 small ones yesterday, but doesn't seem to want them today.

Does anyone know what would make her turn blue like that? Is there anything I can do for her?  Is there anything she particularly needs that I could put out for her?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as she is one of our favorites. She has been coming around ever since she was quite small.

Mahalo, Sherron
