You should check out "integrating linux into your windows network", there's
a great section on samba in it. It will tell you how to edit smb.conf. I
forgot who wrote it, but I'm quite sure it was some nerdy guy.

P.S. It is freely available in the brlug library.

I've used the combination of SWAT and Lynx before... Lynx is a console
based text browser that is pretty cool. You can navigate fairly easily
through SWAT....

Sure - vi or any other text editor is fine although you'll probably want
to start off with the default config file as SWAT etc tend to remove all the
comments.

Hello, does anyone know of a textmode configuration tool for
samba.conf? I have seen several gui ones but I don't have X installed.
Would it be just as easy to edit it with Vi? I am not experienced with
this. Thanks for any help. Jeff
