If the machine is going to be nothing but a firewall, you might want to look
into some of the floppy distributions that are out there. Freesco and Linux
Router Project are two that I've played with before with good luck. Since I
got DSL I've gotten rid of my Freesco box and used gShield to setup my
IPTABLES rules on a 2.4.x box. It all depends on how much you want to do
with the box. PS - I appologize in advance as I think the exchange server
here at work is going to make this post html no matter what I set on
outlook.
