Yeah, I noticed that too. Yahoo ain't the greatest at doing maps. Everybody:
Sparkhound is on the other side (North side) of I-12, on Interline.

John, too bad the map has the star on the wrong side of I12. It has it on
Dawnadale.

I'll be there John. Actually I started with a Atari 800 using a tape player
as the input and Atari Basic. Where is Sparkhound?

Larry,

I agree completely with your statement. I also started with DOS 3.? way back
in the day and when I installed Linux for the first time on my own home
equipment, had the same kind of thrill of being in control of my hardware.
Even more so in the case of Linux, since the source is free and open.

I intend to do exactly what you are asking for, an introduction to Linux
from the beginning, using the RUTE ( http://rute.sf.net <http://rute.sf.net>
) tutorial and a few other resources. Are you interested in attending a
planning/brainstorming meeting on Monday evening at 7pm at Sparkhound? I
think you have valuable input to contribute to the meeting.

My own experience with Linux was that I was exposed to it back in 1996 but
did not feel I had the knowledge or experience to install it on my own
equipment (and Doom seemed to take up most of my time on computers then!).
It took me a couple of years after that until I was finally able to work at
home and had enough free time to take the plunge and bang my head against my
computer screen until I got past the learning curve. I did have some help
from others, but it was mostly a lot of hard effort on my part. So, I can
empathize with others about the difficulty of learning Linux, especially
when pressed for time.

John Hebert
