John, too bad the map has the star on the wrong side of I12. It has =
it on Dawnadale.

          Larry,

I agree completely with your statement. I also started with =
DOS 3.? way back in the day and when I installed Linux for the first =
time on my own home equipment, had the same kind of thrill of being in =
control of my hardware. Even more so in the case of Linux, since the =
source is free and open.

I intend to do exactly what you are asking for, an =
introduction to Linux from the beginning, using the RUTE =
(http://rute.sf.net) tutorial and a few other resources. Are you =
interested in attending a planning/brainstorming meeting on Monday =
evening at 7pm at Sparkhound? I think you have valuable input to =
contribute to the meeting.

My own experience with Linux was that I was exposed to it back =
in 1996 but did not feel I had the knowledge or experience to install it =
on my own equipment (and Doom seemed to take up most of my time on =
computers then!). It took me a couple of years after that until I was =
finally able to work at home and had enough free time to take the plunge =
and bang my head against my computer screen until I got past the =
learning curve. I did have some help from others, but it was mostly a =
lot of hard effort on my part. So, I can empathize with others about the =
difficulty of learning Linux, especially when pressed for time.
