I really don't see what CALEA would have to do with wireless
encryption.  I thought the point to CALEA was to be able to aid law
enforcement by being able to eavesdrop... not preventing
eavesdropping.  Maybe I need to read up on it again.

LSU, like most places, has a problem called politics.
