Not trying to start trouble, just asking.  Have you considered donating 
it to the hsql project?  I mean then the jar wouldn't have to
be updated.

We (Avalon team) are currently trying to eliminate sub-projects that are not 
pertinent to the core
aims of the Avalon project.  This is a candidate, as it is a specialised 
adaptation.  It works, is
used by projects outside of Apache and is fairly neat.  All that happens to it 
is the infrequent
update of the hsqldb.jar that it wraps.
