If you want both to match in this case, why not just create a thesaurus and do 
an expand on your query?

Your application isn't clear to me, but according to my English dictionary that 
stemming looks correct:

personae noun pl. see persona

(Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, Fifth Edition)
