Incubator projects start with monthly reporting and then switch to quarterly after the first few reports.
I think that it is very helpful to do a bit of the report each month even after switching to quarterly reporting because it is hard to remember everything that has happened after 3 months. Even just making a few notes each week is a good thing. This is also a good opportunity to build community if you spread around the writing of those few lines. Starting with super easy contributions like that often leads to much more significant contributions later.
