Did you install fresh J and latest library? If not I would suggest to do that in a separate folder like c:\j601test.
Just made a fresh install from fresh downloads (both the J system and the latest library) into a new directory. The problem persists.
I am on MS Windows XP v. 2002 sp 2. One oddity is that I must install J under "my documents" (this is my work computer, I haven't write access to the drive root or Program Files). Perhaps the spaces in the filename cause the problem?
I'm about to leave the office, but if you cannot make progress without further information, I will try to debug it myself tomorrow.
