Chris, I bet mailman is doing this because it thinks patterns of the form [EMAIL PROTECTED] are email addresses, and it's munging them to prevent spam spiders from harvesting them. You can probably configure it with an option, but that would leave vulnerable those whose email addresses DO appear in the archives (such when people quote entire messages, including some headers, in their reply).
