I have to agree with David and Bruce. Gun ownership is an important
facet of our constitutional rights. I choose not to own guns, but I
vigorously approve of others' rights to own them.
"Guns don't kill, people kill" is 100% true. Those who kill in anger
will use a butcher knife, a baseball bat, or whatever is at hand if
guns are not available. Banning guns will not decrease the likelihood
of encountering a criminal who has an illicit gun. Drugs have been
illegal for decades, but their use has not declined.
I find the born-again believers in gun controls morally equivalent to
the other born-again believers who have it all figured out how I
should live my life. I want no part of either. If you don't believe in
guns, don't own them. If you don't believe in abortions, don't have
them. If you don't believe in eating meat, don't eat meat. etc.
And while you're at it, live your life the way you choose, but stay
out of my face.
