I find it difficult to believe that people are more fixated on what
Clinton did or did not do than on what Bush does or does not do.
Conservatives did not have much use for the Clintons, and liberals do
not have much use for Bush et al. That's politics as usual.

I'm of mixed opinion about the law to permit use of our troops in
America, but I get really tired of hearing about torture of enemy
combatants, since the relatively mild mistreatment of these prisoners
(accidental killings or actual injuries are exceptions, and such
incidents are appropriately prosecuted) in no way compares with
torture, and I believe it is totally appropriate to try such prisoners
by military tribunal. There is nothing in our constitution that
provides or should provide enemy combatants (many of these are simply
terrorists, not uniformed combatants as treated by the Geneva
convention) captured on foreign soil with the trial by jury privileges
accorded to American citizens.

All in all, I find it more likely that my civil rights (right to low
taxes, right to gainful employment (closely related to low taxes),
right to a doctor of my own choosing, and right to pass on an
inheritance to my heirs without confiscatory taxes, etc.) will be
abridged if the other party gains power.
