There is very little that I like about King George. One thing in his
favor, he doesn't whine or reassign blame, even when it could help him.
He didn't send in FEMA when he should have. He ate that mistake. With
the new provision, he has complete control over when he gets to respond
to things like Katrina. The Governors are out of the loop. King George
had a problem, he fixed it so that it won't happen again. Can his
solution be abused? Certainly. I find a much more reasonable
explanation for the provision easier to swallow than the general
hysteria surrounding this president.
My father grew up in Germany. He was there as the Russians _were_
lining people up against the wall. We are nowhere near that point. My
recommendation is to get a paper bag and breathe into it for about five
minutes. It may help you regain perspective. Either that or wait until
next week. By then it will be all over except the wailing and gnashing
of teeth.
