I've never really thought it was about oil, and I'd really hate to think that almost three thousand young men and women died because of a failed assassination attempt on Bush 1. What really bothers me is that fact that nobody in the government seemed to have the sense to see that recent history shows that this type of war is an impossibility to win. Viet Nam and Northern Ireland are just two fairly recent examples of how a force far inferior in numbers waged wars that their opposition were ill equipped to fight with poor results for the numerically superior forces. My other disappointment is that the minority, meaning the democrats, seemed to lack the intestinal fortitude to stand up and scream about it. Overall, it's just really sad I think and it's created far more problems than it's solved.
