Thursday evening, OSAF IT is planning to roll out an update to the wiki backend. The primary purpose is to consolidate onto a released version of the wiki codebase instead of an in-house fork. The secondary purpose is to provide additional features not previously available.

The proposed site is available at http://twiki2.osafoundation.org/

All changes made to the live wiki up to the point of wiki switchover will of course be preserved when we upgrade. So feel free to edit twiki2 for testing; any changes made to twiki2 will be overwritten when we switch.

Last time I preannounced a switchover, people were kind enough to poke around on the proposed site and report issues found. Any assistance in that area would be appreciated.

Attempts have been made to preserve all look-and-feel as well as fix outstanding issues. Search works again, Bug#NNNN works again, and utf-8 encoding is standard. Those sharp of eye will notice a "WYSIWYG" link added which does indeed provide a WYSIWYG editor you are welcome to try. (This isn't an ideal addition to the wiki skin in use, but the link had to go somewhere for testing for now.)

There are other features that will be available with the upgrade that will be outlined later (for instance hierarchical webs, making Projects/Chandler/HomePage possible). And there's a solid list of very obvious improvements that are essentially low-hanging fruit (mod_perl for 10x speed increase) and removal of /bin/view from the default paths.

Thanks for your review and patience.
