Hi all,

I wanted to give you an update on the status of the Portal Project <http://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Projects/PortalProject>:

This is the rough plan that we are following

+ We've decided to take a "top down" approach to dealing with the portal problem. We've gathered some use case information from OSAF staff + Mimi, Priscilla, and I to define a taxonomy of topics for the Portal. This is in line with what Deb Richardson (at Mozilla) recommended to me - goal: complete this by mid-april -- this is the hardest task + Look at whether our navigation structure supports that taxonomy, redesign the navigation if necessary + Compare the content that we have against the taxonomy and figure out what content is missing
+ Move content to appropriate place in taxonomy
   + Create any missing content

We are currently working on putting together a taxonomy of topics for the portal. The most recent version is here: <http://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Journal/WikiTaxonomyAxesBrainstormWithTed>. It is mostly pieces, not a "whole" taxonomy. There are a number of sections in the taxonomy page which correspond to projects owned by various folks. It would help us a lot if people could add topics for their sections, according to what they actually do/use today. You don't have to take previous history into account. We don't plan to do away with historical information, but we do want the taxonomy to reflect our existing process and information.

Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome,

Ted
