How about an uninformed guess from someone who has never used two
interfaces at once? Is that better than no answe4r at all, or worse?

Sorry, just more questions
Is appp.device capable of opening two interfaces at once?
Does your connection to Palm pilot have to use PPP?
I would also like to know the answer.
I think that unless you have some sort of routing set up ,the interfaces are
mutually exclusive. My only relevant experience was with a win95 machine on a
network, lost it`s network connection when accessing the internet, and vice
versa.
I Installed an ICS server, and that solved the problem.
It could also be incompatible IP addressing systems (Internet and LAN
addresses conflicting).
Just a couple of ideas, hope it helps:)
