Good Afternoon Preeti:

You can perform this query with MySQL operations.
Please note the example queries:

http://genomewiki.ucsc.edu/index.php/Finding_nearby_genes

You can adjust the parameters in these queries to extract
data from an interval.

Subject: [Genome] gene annotation through programs

Hi,

I know the chromosome number, start and stop locations on the human
genome. I would like to know if there are any genes in that location
and if yes, I would like to get the gene symbol. I can use the genome
browser to view this information, however, I need to do this for about
a thousand different cases and doing it manually is not possible.
Could you please help me in this regard? Is there any webservice that
I can access through my program to get this info ?

Thank you for your help!

Preeti
