Hi Luvina, Thanks much for getting back to me. I was hoping that it may be as
easy as popping our own cert in place, but was concerned it may break something
(don't know what) in the mirrored setup.. Indeed, especially something like a
precise URL, particularly where cross-domain actions may be involved.

I think I have a handle on their apache set up, and so I should be capable of
directing httpd.conf ok.. Thus, I'll proceed with that plan. We just need
clear-text auth to go away. I'll promptly reverse things if problems are
reported.

Cheers,

Erik

Subject: Re: [Genome] Question on SSL

Hi Erik,

Here are a few comments from one of our engineers:

"As far as I know, the ssl (HTTPS) will work with our cgis. We intend
for it to be possible to run apache with ssl with our code. We have used
it that way for sure with the old GSID system.

I do know that the actual https certificate can be very picky about
having the domain name exactly match the certificate declaration. This
often causes problems for sites that want to run multiple virtual apache
hosts and multiple certs. But that problem is outside our scope,
and not specific to our application.

So, unless we have made mistake somewhere in our code and used an
absolute url of the form "http://";, it should work. (Links to external
sites are allowed to use "http://";)"

I hope this information is useful and helps answer your question. Please
contact us again at [email protected] if you have any further questions.
