Hi Team UCSC Genome Center, In an effort to translate hg19 annotations to hg18, GCRh37, and GCRh36 genomes I recently downloaded the liftOver executable from the UCSC GC ftp site. Already have the chain files.
The downloaded tool does not appear to be an executable (-rw-r--r--)… Then used sudo chmod to add executable permissions (-rwxr-xr-x)… Continue to get liftOver: command not found. Found this for both Linux and Mac executables. Sorry for what must be a mundane question.
