Hello, Anish.

This is exactly what our Table Browser was designed for. If you're
unfamiliar with the Table Browser, please see the User's Guide at
http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/hgTablesHelp.html.

The following is an example of how to obtain information from the UCSC Genes
track in hg19.

1. From http://genome.ucsc.edu, select "Tables" from the blue navigation
bar at the top of the screen.

2. Select the following options:
Clade: Mammal
Genome: Human
Assembly: Feb. 2009 (GRCh37/hg19)
Group: Genes and Gene Prediction Tracks
Track: UCSC Genes
Table: knownGene
Region: Select either "genome" for the entire genome or specify a single
locus in the "position" box. You can also specify multiple loci by clicking
the "define regions" button.
Output format: Select "all fields from selected table" to list all fields in
your output. You can also streamline your output by selecting "selected
fields from primary and related tables".

3. Click the "get output" button. If you selected "selected fields from
primary and related tables" in step 2, you will be presented with an
additional screen that allows you to select which fields you want to view in
your output.

You can experiment to see which options work best with your needs.

Please contact us again at [email protected] if you have any further
questions.

Subject: [Genome] Question - List of genes in a loci

Hi,

I would like to get a list of genes available for a particular loci in
humans. When I enter the gene loci in genome browser, I can get an image
showing the location of all the genes along the loci. But, is there a way to
get the results (list of genes) in the form of text?

Thanks,
Anish.
