Many thanks for all the help. I think that WSL2 is not quite ready for gentoo prefix at present.
I tried several repeat tries with the installer. It is stuck in a loop of permission errors. I will try again Microsoft puts out another significant update. The WSL team they have will be aware of the kinds of problems I have encountered here. Regards MF > >
