I didn't know it was possible to get X to load the kernel module.  Is this 
actually built into the X initialization, or is it just some 
modprobe/rmmod pair somewhere in the startx script?  In my machine at 
least, if I remove the nvidia module before starting X, then X doesn't 
start anymore ;)
