Which kernel drivers are you talking about?
I've noticed that "tulip" drivers get loaded as a module at boot time. but they dont function correctly. (lets you start the device and attach ips but cant talk through it)
Sounds to me like you have a tulip driver variant, which doesn't work with the latest version of the tulip driver. I would suggest you contact the tulip driver maintainer (according to MAINTAINERS it is Jeff Garzik, [EMAIL PROTECTED]), and ask him to help you out. He is a nice (though very busy guy). You also might consider CCing [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]
