There is no one to one mapping, and just slavishly following freshmeat is not allways the best solution, but you might want to start at just is able to find the maintainer (or herd maintainers email address) of the packages, and make a list of updated versions and existing versions. Later you might want to add a mechanism that would avoid duplicate warnings about an available package update.
