After googling for quite some time, I did find the answers: no, there is The relevant comments in that bug apparently come from the discussion of Michael Haubenwallner's draft GLEP [3], which is designed to provide for prefixed package installs on non-Gentoo O/S's. Whoa. Looks like you covered pretty much everything I'd have to say on the topic. Good job! 10,000 brownie points for Finn. Basically, Brian Harring (ferringb) is deeply involved in rewriting much of the portage internals. Once the rewrite is complete, we can expect things like ICANINSTALLTO (from [1] above) to be implemented very easily. Brian needs help.
