gz is only on one file. It just uncompresses the bitmapped fonts. The problem 
I try to solve is that freetype before 2.1.3 cannot read compressed bitmapped 
fonts. So either upgrade (easiest, and stable for me), or uncompress the 
fonts. ( cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi; gunzip *.gz ) and the same for 
the other dirs. To recompress them in case it doesn't work just do : 
( cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi; gzip *.pcf )
