I am currently using gentoo-sources-2.4.19-r10 and I see that there is an upgrade to 2.4.20-r1.
I have an onboard VIA Sound system: 00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 40) that will only work with alsa, which is wonky even at best.
