yeah i remembered i had red hat on it thats why grub
comes out. as for lilo.conf, it went like this:

Yeah, change 'boot=/dev/hdb1' to 'boot=/dev/hdx'. The x is whichever device's MBR you want LILO on (a for 1st hd, b for 2nd).
