Check /var/log/emerge.log and post all the packages that were upgraded since the last time you used portage without problems. I have to have a whinge about this. Many people ask for help and then end it with saying, "if you can't help, i'm gonna leave!" To be perfectly honest, every time I see something like this, I get the inclination to not help the person at all. It is totally unrelated to the problem and therefore unnecessary.
