Since I don't need the last nuance in speed, I downloaded the prebuilt
openoffice-ximian (586, gtk2), and it works just fine.

One difference.  I have been using an openoffice icon for my gnome desktop, but
the ximian build does not include the icons directory that I was using with the
normal 1.1 bin distribution.

        /opt/OpenOffice.org1.1_rc2/share/icons

There is no such directory in /opt/OpenOffice.org (ximian). Does anyone know
why?
