I didn't see that one. I was just catching up on 500+ emails in this list so 
didn't read every one ;-)

If the problem was gone after an emerge sync, it means that it wasn't a bug in 
portage but a bug in an ebuild. Basically, some ebuild had a hardcoded dep 
(i.e. not responsive to use flags) which has since been rectified.
