try to start the ssh daemon on the box you want to connect to:
/etc/init.d/sshd start
SSH already started on both boxes.
$ ssh -X [EMAIL PROTECTED]
# ssh -X [EMAIL PROTECTED]
all work on both boxes including starting X server on the same box.
