I'm pretty sure that the LiveCD has support for ppp. Also, if you have another Linux distro already installed, you can connect to the internet from there, and install from there.
says that using the stage 3 tarball requires a 686 processor. I am running an AMD K6-2 475 Mhz. Does this chip qualify as 686?
Nope. It is a few instructions short of a 686.
