I think what you've forgotten to do is unpack the portage image. After copying portage-########.tar.bz2 to /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage, cd to that directory and "tar xvjf portage portage-########.tar.bz2" to unpack it. -- Andrew Farmer [EMAIL PROTECTED]
