http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38629 The older bug mine was marked as a duplicate of: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24991 I was a bit concerned that this problem first surfaced many months ago on 2.5/2.6 kernels (I think) but has now resurfaced on a 2.4.22 type kernel. That means it hasn't been fixed and leaves me concerned that the folks who worked on this earlier maybe didn't understand all aspects of it.
