edit /etc/fstab and add  'user' to your list of options like in this example : 

/dev/cdroms/cdrom0      /mnt/cdrom      auto    ro,noauto,user  0 0

It allows plain user to mount/umount removable media.

edit /etc/conf.d/net. You'll find a gateway entry. That will surely solve your 
problem.
