Thanks for the response.  I did find that loop was not set in the config file. I’m going to reconfig the kernel and give it another go.

I just emerged mondo-rescue.  going through the docs, they say to ‘test’ with mindi.  Regardless of the options I choose, mindi fails with ambiguous redirect errors.

 

The end result is always: Fatal Can’t loopmount /tmp/tmp.XXXX/mindilinux… does your kernel support loopfs? your linux distro is broken.

 

Any input would be greatly appreciated.  The bugz page for mondo doesn’t come up (page not found), the mondo irc channel is a ghost town (has been for almost a month), and the gentoo channel people apparently don’t use mondo.
