You might have to write a rule in /etc/udev/rules.d. See - http://www.reactivated.net/udevrules.php > > As a secondary question, does anyone have good suggestions on one of > those 6-in-1 or 8-in-1 readers (SmartMedia/CF/SD/MMC/etc. all in one) > that works well with Linux? > I've used a few of the internal Koutech USB digital card readers. The only caveat is a decent power supply is needed. Poor power supplies cause a lot of noise, thus interferes with the parallel to serial conversion. That said, I never bothered with the udev rules, just either left a card plugged in or was doing a usb net setup through the USB port on the card reader. And that had it's own script.
