Looks like something is wrong with
~/.gtk_qt_engine_rc.    If you can't fix it you could
delete it and start from scratch ;-)  I've used
gtk-qt-engine in the past with no problems.

For KDE users, Mozillux has some really nice themes
for firefox and thunderbird:
