What is hard with wpa_supplicant? It is just three lines:

 wpa_passphrase <ssid> [passphrase] > /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
 wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -B
 dhcpcd

But I already hinted to this.
