I just installed stable Gentoo on a new PC without any hal: profile /usr/portage/profiles/default/linux/x86/10.0/desktop/ make.conf with -hal USE xorg-server 1.9.2 nvidia-drivers 260.19.29 udev 151-r4 dbus 1.4.1 xfce4 4.8 Everything works nice. Cheers, -- Jacques
