Update portage first, that way you are using the newest version when updating gcc and glibc. Personally, I'd trust portage to know better than me and do emerge -au @system emerge -auDN @world -- Neil Bothwick And God said "Let there be light" and there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it better.
